Vodafone pushes ahead by launching faster 4G connectivity and expands its global reach

In the first of a series of developments around its 4G services, Vodafone has announced that their customers can now take advantage of the largest ultrafast 4G roaming network. Customers that are on 4G tariffs with compatible devices will be able to experience faster connectivity in 23 countries worldwide, as listed below. Customers travelling within the Eurozone can use 4G data, calls and texts as if on their contract at home for a daily charge of £3. Countries covered outside of the Euro zone are charged at a £5 daily rate.
Cindy Rose, Vodafone UK Head of Consumer [word missing?], said,”We are really excited to be able to offer our thousands of customers travelling around the world, whether on business or for fun, an even better 4G experience,”.
For the domestic market, Vodafone has now rolled out 4G coverage to 177 cities with another 155 currently in progress. Most notably, Vodafone 4G is now live in Bournemouth, Reading and Southampton as well as Crosby and Denny. This rollout is supplemented by the company’s launch of the latest technology in 4G.
As part of a £1 billion investment into its network, Vodafone UK last week began the rollout of a new technology to allow more users to experience ultra-fast speeds.
The new technology, called Carrier Aggregation but also referred to as LTE Advanced or 4.5G, allows Vodafone to provide higher average speeds to more simultaneous users, including indoors where 70 per cent of customers use their mobile device most. It will be available to customers from this month in Birmingham, Manchester and London and to other UK cities during the rest of this year and 2015.
Vodafone UK Technology Director, Fergal Kelly, said: “This clever technology is the next big step to deliver faster speeds per user and to increase the capacity so more customers can enjoy a great 4G experience when and where they want it.”
