Vodafone connects its 500th community to their ultra fast 4G data service.

Vodafone have announced the roll out of 4G coverage of Pontypridd in South Wales, establishing a landmark 500 communities connected to their superfast mobile broadband. This achievement is announced less than three months after the 400th community in Bridgend was celebrated. With this latest success Vodafone are now estimated to offer 4G to 65% of UK premises.
Not only providing 4G to Pontypridd, Vodafone have bolstered the existing 3G connectivity network, facilitating greater indoor coverage as well as outdoor. As Vodafone UK chief technology officer Jorge Fernandes explains: “Our network improvements across Pontypridd will ensure users enjoy stronger 3G coverage, whilst the arrival of 4G will also help local businesses react faster to the needs of their customers. We also know that 70% of our customers use their mobile devices most in the home or the office, which is why our investment is particularly focused to improving indoor coverage.”
This follows hot on the heels of Vodafone’s announcement last month that they plan to further invest in its mobile phone services across Wales to bring 3G and 4G mobile coverage to more than 94% of the Welsh population.
This all forms part of Vodafone’s pledge to commit £1billion to investment in their mobile network and services this year. Through innovative technology such as their Rural Open Sure Signal programme, aimed to give 100 remote communities across the UK 3G coverage for the first time, they are bringing industry firsts to every community in the country.
