Vodafone to block your nuisance calls and becomes the first network to receive anti nuisance call accreditation!

In another industry first Vodafone UK has become the first telecommunications company to secure the Telephone preference Service (TPS) Assured accreditation following their announcement earlier this week of blocking nuisance call automatically at the network level.
Vodafone announced earlier this week that they have successfully installed new barring technology across the network that blocks nuisance and scam calls on a mass level before they reach consumers mobiles. Significantly reducing the stress and distress this causes their customers Vodafone was able to block more than 425,000 nuisance and scam calls in one test day alone.
The new technology means Vodafone can block hundreds of thousands of nuisance and fraudulent calls, such as false PPI offers, missed call scams, or expensive numbers to ring for bogus offers and prizes at the source before they get through to customers. The customer does not need to do anything and will be unaware a call has been blocked since the system works discreetly. By working in such a manner Vodafone noted that these calls dropped to under 1,000 as the callers realised that they were unable to connect through the Vodafone network. Often run by scammers trying to extract money from unsuspecting victims Head of Corporate Security for Vodafone UK, Mark Hughes said:
“Fraudulent calls are a scourge on society, inflicting great anxiety for victims. The protection of our customers is paramount and we have been investing heavily in our network and technology to help stamp out this practice. We will continue to evolve the technology as well as work with industry bodies and the regulator to ensure we keep one step ahead of criminals.”
Following this exiting news, Vodafone has also been the first telecoms company to receive the telephone preference service assured accreditation. The accreditation is run by the telephone preference service or TPS a free service allowing UK consumer to opt out of receiving unsolicited marketing or telemarketing calls on both land lines and mobile phones. Sales phone calls have been a hot bed of dissatisfaction amongst the consumers as some individuals can become inundated with calls. Following a thorough audit, Vodafone has been found to be following the best practice and laws governing telemarketing.
External Affairs Director of Vodafone UK, Helen Lamprell said: “Telemarketing calls from broadband, phone, TV and telecoms providers feature in the top five most complained about topics to the Information Commissioner’s Office. This is unacceptable. We are committed to treating our customers and other consumers with respect, and through our qualification of this accreditation, we are taking action.”
