Vodafone and O2 to reimburse call costs to and from Tunisia

In light of the heart-wrenching events that took place in Tunisia on Friday the 26th June both, our channel partners O2 and Vodafone have pledged to reimburse any additional costs incurred by customers whilst contacting friends or family.
From the 26th June until the 3rd July customers will be automatically identified as having made qualifying calls or texts into or from Tunisia and will receive a credit to their account. It will also include roaming data for Vodafone UK customers who are currently in Tunisia.
Vodafone stated in their announcement “We’re all shocked and saddened by the news of Friday’s events in Tunisia, and we know that these kinds of incidents affect a huge amount of people beyond those who were there at the scene.” “Our thoughts are with everyone affected by Friday’s devastating attack in Tunisia, and we know that one of the most important things at times like these is to be able to get through to loved ones and make sure they’re OK.”
O2 echoed this sentiment in their press release stating
“Last week’s terror attack in Tunisia was shocking and we were stunned with the news that a number of people including British citizens and holiday makers were caught up in this act. We’d like to offer our sincere condolences to all the people caught up in this terrible event.
We’ve recognised that our customers had to contact loved ones, friends and family to check in and to stay in touch.. To help support them, we’re retrospectively applying credits to our Pay and Go and Pay Monthly customers”
They went on to advise customers that should they still need to contact loved ones after the set time period to use their free app TU Go which, when connected over WiFi when you’re abroad, allows calls and texts at UK rates. To download click here.
