Now we are all mostly recovered from our amazing final leg in this epic 6 stage cycle ride across France, we should let you know how it all went and tell you of the amazing achievements of our friends and colleagues at Cellular Solutions.
Delayed by a year due to the Covid pandemic, this final stage was a very welcome addition to our social and charitable calendar this year. After months of training, our 10 riders and 2 rider support people set off to their starting point in Toulouse, France.
Wednesday the 8th June saw the riders cover the first 91km looking great in their team jerseys! With a steady incline reaching peaks of around 621 metres above sea level, and the weather being warm but wet with intermittent showers. Nothing that our riders couldn’t handle.
Thursday the 9th June was another early start as the team had another 91km ride ahead of them. This time the weather was sunny and dry and the team moved deeper into the Pyrenees.
The final leg of the ride started very early on Friday 10th June. This was the hardest planned day of them all, but the most rewarding as this was the one with the finish line in site! Covering a very long 118km, and hitting a max altitude of 1093 metres, our riders pushed themselves to their limits. In unrelenting heat with a high of 35c the team pushed through the pain and fatigue to reach their final destination on the Mediterranean.
Louisa, our Director of Ops and one of the cyclists, had this to say – “301KM in total! The last day in particular was a big push for us all, over 73 miles in 35 degree sunshine with two long (10km) uphill’s that seemed to go on forever!! Everyone did fantastically though and we all stuck together throughout as one big team to help each other when anyone was wavering. All of the donations coming in throughout the week really did help to spur us on so thank you to everyone ”
We’re super proud of all of the cyclists, and to Richard and Libby who drove the support vehicle and looked after them over the 3 day ride, and of course to all the rest of our CS team who held down the fort back in the UK and sent so many messages of support and encouragement to the riders whilst keeping our customers cared for!
And there is still time to donate on the link below –
