Putting Our Workers To Work, And For An Amazing Cause!

On the 12th of April 2018, 14 volunteers from our amazing Cellular Solution’s team travelled to Arundel for our annual gardening day at the Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice. The Chestnut Tree House is a children’s charity providing hospice care services and community support for children and young people with progressive life-shortening conditions throughout Sussex and South East Hampshire.
The tasks handed out to our CS gardeners included –
• digging out paths
• raking land and clearing away rocks
• cleaning up pathways
• trimming/edging
• weeding
• deadheading daffodils
Every one of these tasks done by the volunteers helps the Hospice to save on their expenses, allowing for more money to be put towards the specialist care, beneficial spaces and activities for the children.
Debbie, one of the team that went, said “It’s always such a privilege to be able to visit Chestnut Tree House and see the incredible work this charity does day in and day out. Although it’s so sad to know what these children have to face (and their families), I am continually amazed with all the hard work they do and the wonderful environment they have created at Chestnut Tree House to provide these children with the much-needed support, care and positive experiences that they deserve.
Some of us also went on a tour of the house yesterday where one of the members of staff advised us that they need approximately £3,500,000 per year to cover all the running costs. I’m so glad to be a part of a company that continually supports and provides funding to this amazing charity to help them to continue to do the incredible work they do.
The house and gardens provide an amazing and peaceful environment for all the children and parents but maintaining these premises can understandably take a back foot when there is so much to do. The wonderful Flic (the resident Chestnut Tree Hospice Gardener) does so much already to keep the gardens at an amazing standard. It was great that we could go to help support her and help keep the garden looking its best.”
It currently costs well over £3.5m each year to provide all the care services provided by Chestnut Tree House. Families are never charged for their care and less than 7p in every pound is funded by the government, so they rely heavily on the generosity, help and support of the people of Sussex.
We at Cellular Solutions are very proud to be one of them! And we are monumentally proud of our volunteers that went on this gardening day and worked so hard in not the nicest of weather!
The lovely people at the Chestnut Tree House also sent us a card to say thank you, and we would like to say that you are more than welcome and we’ll see you again next year!!
