On Your Marks… Get Set… BAKE!

Cellular Solutions very own baking challenge raises £176.46 for charity.

Only one baker could rise to be the winner in the Cellular Solutions bake off and competition was hot! Eight budding bakers competed, not only for bragging rights as Cellular Solutions’ bake off winner 2015, but to raise money for Kevin’s Brain Cancer Treatment Fund.

The entries may not have been made under the scrupulous gaze of Paul and Mary of BBC TV fame, but they were scrutinised by the most discerning of judges – the Cellular Solutions staff! A spectacular showcase of savoury and sweet snacks ranging from bacon and cheese pastry swirls to chewy granola bars were presented anonymously and priced at a £1 per piece. After sampling the delights, votes were cast and Hannah was declared the winner for her savoury swirls with pesto or bacon. When the money was totted up, a fantastic £176.46 was added towards Kevin’s brain cancer treatment fund.

Kevin’s Brain Cancer Treatment Fund has been set up to assist Kevin, who has been diagnosed with a glioblastoma multiforme grade 4 brain tumour. The money raised by the fund helps to pay for life extending treatment that is currently unavailable on the NHS that costs £1,000 a week. Since starting the treatment Kevin has responded exceptionally well – he’s able to walk around, focus and engage with his family again – things he could no longer do before the treatment. Another £3,000 is needed towards his next course of treatment, and Kevin’s friends and family are appealing for donations to help continue his treatment. As a sibling of a former employee, we are committed to supporting this cause whole-heartedly.
