Vodafone recognised for ‘going the extra mile’ with award

Every year (2015 being the inaugural awards) the experts at Cable.co.uk, along with 6,000 members of the UK public, select the broadband providers that have exhibited true excellence in their fields.

Vodafone launched their Open Sure Signal programme after recognising there were a significant number of rural communities that suffered from geographical challenges, making it impossible to provide advanced mobile services using traditional signal masts. Utilising their industry leading Sure Signals they harnessed the power of Fem to Cell technology to battle these rural 'not-spots' by producing a 3G signal from local broadband lines.

It is this thought leading technology that has lead to Cable.co.uk awarding them this year's 'Extra Mile Award'. They stated

"From Newton St Cyres in Devon to Walls in the Shetlands, there are people up and down the country this year for whom Vodafone is a true hero. It's as simple as this: without Vodafone, they wouldn't have reliable mobile broadband coverage until the government and/or BT pulls its finger out."
