Cellular Solutions get stuck in for Chestnut Tree House Hospice

Last week ten Cellular Solutions staff volunteered to donate a day’s labour for the Chestnut Tree House Hospice and what a labour of love it was. The task was to clear the main drainage ditch that runs just outside of the grounds. This work was particularly essential, as the Chestnut Tree House is separate from the mains system and onsite drainage is top priority to prevent flooding.
Up to their shins in mud the team fought brambles, nettles and even unearthed an unlikely friend in the quagmire (see if you can spot it in the picture and comment below!). All of this saved the Hospice hundreds of pounds in contractor fee’s which means their essential funds are able to go towards the simply amazing work they do.
hestnut Tree House is the only children’s hospice in East and West Sussex and cares for 300 children and young adults from 0-19 years of age with progressive life-limiting conditions from Sussex and South East Hampshire.
There are potentially 1,000 families with life-limited children in Sussex. Chestnut Tree House offers support for the whole family including psychological and bereavement support, end of life, short break care and sibling support.
It currently costs well over £3m each year to provide all the care services provided by Chestnut Tree House. Families are never charged for their care and less than 8p in every pound is funded by the government, so they rely heavily on the generosity, help and support of the people of Sussex.

Richard Holland, Fixed Line Director, commented “We were delighted that we had an opportunity to have a tour of Chestnut Tree House to see the fantastic facilities that they have and to gain an insight into the work that they do. The tour really brought to life the positive impact that the facility has on the children and their families, as well as highlighting the huge dedication of all the staff. Whilst the volunteer work we did may have been physically demanding, it was made all the more worthwhile knowing that we were helping such a great cause and we look forward to continuing to support Chestnut Tree House in the future”.
