Account Manager Danni took the plunge with Hove BNI to raise money for local charities

On Sunday the 12th of June 2016 18 teams from local Sussex Businesses competed in a fun filled rafting challenge to raise essential funds for two charities, Lifecentre, and Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice. Provided with simply bath tubs and raft building equipment this quirky competition exercised brains and brawn as the teams had to build a raft and then paddle them 250 yards competing in heats.
Winners of the heats were then pitted against each other in the afternoon in an adrenalin pumping final of which Henry Adams from Chichester won, while the BNI Hove team containing our very own Danni were victors in the Demolition Derby taking the trophy by cleverly evading damage from the teams in the chaotic no holds barred race.
The Great Sussex bath race is a fantastic twist on the traditional raft building team exercises, pitting local businesses against each other to raise money for two local charities, the Chestnut Tree House Hospice, and Lifecentre.
Lifecentre is a UK based charity that supports survivors of rape & sexual abuse. It offers a national helpline and a counselling team based in Sussex, England. Maggie Ellis, Lifecentre Founder, and Director explained “The Great Sussex Bath Race has raised much-needed funds for Lifecentre’s vulnerable clients – many of them children, some as young as 4 – who have all suffered sexual abuse. The £16,000 raised last year has made such a difference to so many lives.”
Chestnut Tree House is the children’s hospice for Sussex and South East Hampshire and cares for 300 children and young adults from 0-19 years of age with life-limiting illnesses. Hugh Lawson, Chief Executive at St Barnabas Hospices stated;

“We are delighted that The Great Sussex Bath Race has chosen to support Chestnut Tree House for the fourth year running. Last year’s event was a tremendous success and raised an incredible £16,000, which made a real difference to the children and families who need the care only Chestnut Tree House can provide. I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved!”
