10 bikes, 265km and a steep challenge!
Whilst many were basking in the sunshine enjoying their well-earned rest from the working week, ten colleagues from cellular solutions completed their 265km charity bike ride by cycling into the historic town of Poitiers.
Starting in Orleans the event took part over three days all within the midst of an unexpected heat wave. The first leg was a ‘moderate’ 112km following the river Loire down into Amboise and the team subsequently set off for the second leg in a haze of heat the following day which, peaking at a stifling 38°c, was fortunately only 53km to the picturesque town of Loches. Finally the team ascended 100km of hills to the final stop of Poitiers, coming to rest in front of the grandiose Hotel De Ville the perfect scene for the riders exhausted jubilation and champagne toast.
The fundraising endeavors were also non-stop back in the Hove based office. Employees throughout the whole company participated in a tag team race to cycle the length of France, a total of 1,000km, in three days on the office stationery bike. Alongside sponsorship of this epic feat, a charity raffle was also organized with kind donations from local businesses supporting the company.
This was the latest leg in Cellular Solutions ambitious plan to cycle from Hove to Valras Plage in the south of France, with a target of raising £250,000 in the process. Over the past few years, the Cellular Solutions teams have raised over £111,000 and with this latest endeavor they hope to reach the £140,000 mark. This time around the event was sponsored by Gamma, one of the UK’s leading communications suppliers, and together is on track to raise over £30,000 again. The money will be divided between 12 charities whose work ranges from caring for sick babies, looking after children with multiple disabilities and caring for children and adults who are terminally ill.
